1. Explain with reference to the context of the following stanzas:


(a) Now we will........... arms so much.


Reference to the Context: This stanza has been taken from the poem 'Keeping Quiet' composed by 'Pablo Neruda'. In this stanza, the poet introduces the technique of count to twelve and the way to do it.


 Explanation: The poet Pablo Neruda' calls us everyone to count to twelve and advises us all to keep still-motionless during the process. He suggests that wherever we're on the Earth, we've to be completely still and not speak in any language which means no motion or sound, absolutely still. The poet says to stop for one second means stop for few seconds to complete the counting patiently and not move our arms so much indicates not move any body part which might attract the attention & concentration. 


(b) It would be......... sudden strangeness.


Reference to the Context: This stanza has been taken from the poem 'Keeping Quiet' written by Pablo Neruda'. The poet tells about the speciality of that moment and its impact.


Explanation: Poet Pablo Neruda' tells that when we will count upto twelve, it would be an exotic, a strange, a unique moment for us, in which there would be no rush, no hurry, everywhere, there would be silence and no engines indicate the sound of man-made machines, no such sound will be there. And the most important factor would be that we would all be together as in the same position, counting upto twelve and there would be an unexpected, immediately fallen strangeness, a scene of total silence, the strangest strangeness.


(c) Fishermen...........hurt hands.


Reference to the Context: These lines have been taken from the poem 'Keeping Quiet Composed by Pablo Neruda'. These lines tell about the benefits of keeping quiet.

 Explanation: The poet tells that Keeping Quiet has many benefits in many means. By this thod, the human being would be free to introspect and repair the internal wounds. The poet gives ample that the fishermen who go into the cold sea for fishing, catching the fishes which kills the shes, ends their lives, by keeping quiet, fishermen would not harm whales and whales represent the whole sea creatures. So, when the fishermen would still lives would be saved. And the man who Ugh gathers salt would look at his hurt hands as there are many who are so poor or busy, who go t working and working and now they would be free for themselves own. for


(d) Those who...........doing nothing.


Reference to the Context: These lines have been taken from the poem Keeping Quiet written by Pablo Neruda. The lines tell the benefit of counting to twelve who are extremely violent and Raged in wars



Explanation: The poet tells that the people who are engaged in the preparation of wars-green was destroying greeneries, wars with gas-wars using various chemical formations, wars with fire, wars producing great fire after these wars, there will be seen victory, one side might win but there will e no survivors, no person will be there who would enjoy the taste of triumph. They would put on, on clothes when they will be free from worldly things, keeping quiet, counting up to twelve and these people would meet to their brothers, their relatives, their well-wishers and sit quietly and patiently under the shade, in the shadow, in the peace and would do nothing, doing nothing unfavourable, nothing such thing which losses the humanity.


(e) What I want.............with death. 


Reference to the Context: These lines have been taken from the poem "Keeping Quiet' written by Pablo Neruda. These lines clarify the poet's intention of suggesting the concept of counting to welve and its after effects.


Explanation: The poet has suggested the way of keeping quiet by counting to twelve. He suggests to keep still for sometime but at the same time, the poet clearifies that he wants no one to be efused, confused with total inactivity as one can be confused that stillness means total comfort by doing nothing. Life is what it is about means our life has some aim and it must be fulfilled. The poet does not keep any connection with death as total inactivity brings death. The poet clears that if we were not so single-minded, single-aimed for keeping our lives forward, moving ahead and at that fime, become lazy, doing nothing, remaining idle then probably a huge silence-death might interrupt dis sadness, pains of never understanding ourselves, going far from our conscience and of fatening ourselves with death, making ourselves fearful from death.



(f) Perhaps the.............and I will go. 


Reference to the Context: This part has been taken from the poem 'Keeping Quiet composed by Tablo Neruda. This part informs about the role of natural objects and their importance.


Explanation: The poet, in this part tells that in this universe, it is our Earth which can teach us motivate us, when, around us, we find everything dead and inactive and then everything proves to be alve Our Earth never stops, always moving and moving which messages that we should always be Ave. And finally, the poet again repeats the same process to count up to twelve and suggests us to jeep quiet again and he would go for further actions



 2. Give the Central Idea of the poem 'Keeping Quiet.

The poet Pablo Neruda' in this poem suggests that he would count to twelve and everybody would keep still. He suggests that on the Earth, at our dwelling place, we'ld be silent and motionless This technique of the poet is related to a way of meditation, relaxation, introspection. This moment is que moment without any sound and this way brings togetherness, some strangeness. This pro gives benefit to all the creatures. Human being like violent mentality will also got comfort and their mentality would be changed. Poet also clears the confusion about total inactivity. Life is given sra purpose to be fulfilled. Total inactivity brings death we must be single-focussed for our aim, for warding our lives otherwise huge silence-death would knock at the door. We should never reaten ourselves with any fear. The poet advocates for nature (Earth) to give motivation for life to be live and finally goes further for further proceedings and continues the proceedings.
