The Conjunction :-

A Conjunction is a word which joins two words, clauses or sentences.

जो शब्द दो शब्दों, उपवाक्यों या वाक्यों को जोड़ता है, उसे Conjunction (संयोजक) कहते हैं, जैसे-

1. He sells mangoes and oranges.
2. The girl is clever but the boy is dull.
3. Work hard or you will fail.
4. We waited till the train arrived.
5. He could not pass though he tried often.

Kinds of Conjunction (संयोजक के प्रकार):

Conjunction दो प्रकार के होते हैं:

1. Co-ordinating Conjunction (समानपदीय संयोजक):

यह वह शब्द होता है जो समान पद वाले शब्दों या वाक्यों को आपस में जोड़ता है, जैसे:

• It is a cold and windy day.
• Two and two makes four.
• She failed but she did not lose heart.
• You are poor yet you are happy.

मुख्य Co-ordinating Conjunctions: for, nor, also, and, but, or, either, neither, yet, so, otherwise, as well, therefore.

2. Sub-ordinating Conjunction (आश्रित संयोजक):

यह वह शब्द होता है जो ऐसे वाक्यों को जोड़ता है जिनमें से एक वाक्य दूसरे पर आश्रित होता है। उदाहरण:

• I cannot go to school because it is raining.
• He bought the pen which was cheap.
• I shall help him if he comes.
• He told me that he was a lawyer.
• India will win the match unless it rains.
• Even if I don't pass, I will try again.

मुख्य Sub-ordinating Conjunctions: if, that, because, how, till, when, where, than, until, before, though, although, while, unless, as, since, so that, who, which, after.
